Kōkiri is back in 2020!
The search is on for the next kapa (group) of Māori tech entrepreneurs, innovators and business start-ups to take part in Kōkiri, a unique kaupapa-led business accelerator programme.
Kōkiri is an intensive three-month programme for tech-focused start-ups that have high-growth potential and are impact positive ventures. Aimed at accelerating market entry, the successful team will be confident to showcase their ventures to potential backers and be ready to negotiate investment opportunities.
Up to 10 successful teams will receive entry to the exclusive programme and be provided with a lucrative support package. Critical components of the programme include mentoring from leading business leaders, education, capability development, and networking opportunities. In addition, the support package with provide participants with a start-up grant of $10,000, additional financial assistance, and accommodation during the live-in residential weeks. Kōkiri is designed to provide wrap around support to enable teams to focus solely on their business development.
Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (TWoA) has partnered with Callaghan Innovation again to power the only business accelerator dedicated to speeding up the development of early-stage Māori-led businesses in Aotearoa. Callaghan Innovation is continuing its investment in this kaupapa (programme) as the government’s business innovation agency and industry leaders in the Māori economy.
Applications open on 2 December 2019 and successful applicants will be announced next year in February before the programme kicks off in April.

Applications for the 2020 Kōkiri programme open on Monday 2 December 2019. Delivery partner, Te Ahikōmako, will host the official launch event on Thursday 5 December in Hamilton. RSVP for the launch event here. There will be information sessions and application workshops across the motu (country) in December 2019 and January 2020. Applications close on Sunday 2 February 2020.
